Sound events are dimensional (events occurring on the left side of the screen are heard more out of the left speaker). Enemy is ridiculously accurate! Keep moving to avoid death. Killing enemy increases shields.

Casino action Slot Machine. This is a realistic slot machine modeled after real machines. A mix of 3D and vector graphics. The shell was modeled in LightWave and the slot machine was written in ActionScript (flash). The reel graphics are created in Adobe Illustrator. When the handle is pulled, a request is sent to the wincashfree server. The server generates a coded random number and sends it to the slot machine. The decoded combination is then displayed on the reels. The pay combinations can be adjusted to fit the needs of a given promotion.

I always wanted an animated illustration of this process, and decided creating it in Flash was the answer. The engine unit (cylinder) shown here is a seperate movie clip that runs autonomously. These units can be "stacked" to form a multi-cylinder engine. One complete cycle (4 strokes) is 720 degrees (2 rotations). For an 8-cylinder engine, each cylinder is set (720/8 = 90) degrees out of phase to evenly distribute the power strokes, giving smoother rotational output.

This is how a 4 cylinder engine could be set up. Each cylinder is 180 degrees out of phase with the preceeding one. Notice how this spaces out the power strokes evenly.

This is the 4-stroke engine recreated in ActionScript. All motion (flywheel, piston rod, and piston) is mathematically calculated and the driving variable is RPMs. The movie attempts to run at 120 frames per second (fps), but is limited by your CPU. The RPM value is based on 30 fps and is therefore inaccurate. Each iteration, the flywheel gets rotated by n degrees, the piston rod is moved & rotated, and the piston is moved. n is calculated from the desired RPM value. The valve assembly has been removed from this illustration.

Less than 8k. Animated birthday card (this one is for my brother). I created a particle fountain and the particles are just baloons. They float around, bounce off the walls and explode on impact with the ground. All baloons follow the same motion equations, and all baloons are effected by gravity; they are just given differnet (random) initial velocities. When a baloon escapes off the screen (at the top) or explodes on impact with the ground, it is regenerated as a new baloon with a new color, speed and direction.

m frequency - how often the worm meanders

This can display as many bottles as I give it. It will create an N x N grid to hold all the bottles. In this case, 9 bottles creates a 3 x 3 grid. 100 bottles would create a 10 x 10 grid. If I add one more bottle, the grid created will be 11 x 11. Actually anywhere from 101-121 will create an 11 x 11 grid; 122-144 would result in a 12 x 12 grid.

Wine rack & bottles created in 3D. Click on the bottle tops to move the wine bottles in or out of the rack. The rack is actually in 5 layers so the bottles can fit between the layers and give the illusion of 3D. Try emptying the entire rack!
